The Brooklyn Nets have had nothing short of a disappointing past few seasons. With Kevin Durant, Kyrie Irving, and James Harden all in Brooklyn, everyone thought the new big three had formed and a championship would soon return to the state of New York. However, the past seasons have been somewhat tumultuous and as the Nets continue to unravel, the biggest question that has yet to be answered is the obvious.

Where will Kevin Durant play next season?

On June 30th, Durant and his team made it known to Nets GM Sean Marks that he wanted out of Brooklyn. But why? Ever since Durant stepped foot in Brooklyn, the Nets have done the absolute most to make the former league MVP happy. They hired his friend Steve Nash as Head Coach, fired coach Kenny Atkinson who was showing promise as a future coach due to the teams growing success, and got the Nets to sign a way-past-time DeAndre Jordan to a ridiculous four year deal.

On June 27th, guard Kyrie Irving opted into his final year of his deal picking up a $37 million player option. By this, people expected things to finally begin to pan out the way it was supposed to with Durant, Irving, and Ben Simmons (who was involved in the Harden trade). But as we now know it, Durant asked for a trade shortly after.

So back to the biggest question- Where will Durant land next season?

There is tons of speculation saying that Durant’s preference is to land in either Phoenix or Miami.

But other experts making hypothetical trade packages have him going up north to Toronto or back to the Sunshine state heading to the Lakers and even returning to the Golden State Warriors where he won 2 championships along with 2 final MVPs.

As of now, trade talks within the league have been quiet. Durant hasn’t made any statements, neither has his team or the Nets.

The Nets currently have all of the leverage in every trade talk involving Durant and aren’t going to let him go easy. Kyrie is currently set to play, Simmons will hopefully make his return to the court this season, things could look up and for all we know Durant can play in Brooklyn next season.

But for now, all we can do is wait and see how Kevin Durant’s offseason pans out.
