Another Day, Another Yankee Shutout. Last night after the “Bombers” fell to the Rays 4-0 it marked two straight shutouts & 10 of 12 losses for the World Series Contenders.
It’s been the tale of two half’s for the Yankees who look and feel like a completely different ball club since the All Star Break. While a large part of the Yanks struggles could be attested to injuries – outside of Aaron Judge & Anthony Rizzo – this is a mediocre lineup, if that.
Yankees starters have a 2.66 ERA in the last 7 games. That is tied with the White Sox for the 4th lowest in MLB in that span. The bullpen has a 2.61 ERA, which is the 5th lowest. The offense has 17 runs scored (4th lowest) and a .186 AVG (tied for the 2nd lowest with MIL).
It certainty doesn’t help that Giancarlo Stanton (Achilles), Harrison Bader (Foot), Matt Carpenter (Foot) & now DJ Lemahieu (Foot) all are sidelined.
If that wasn’t enough the AL East Leaders are also without Luis Severino, Chad Green, Michael King, Zach Britton & Miguel Castro.
Call it what you want – but injuries are the reason for the Yanks struggles now. While New Yorkers have hit the panic button, the outlook remains the same for this team:
Get. Healthy. For now, we can put the panic meter at a “4” – but if and when the Yankees get healthy they are yet again World Series contenders.
