The playoff bound New York Mets enter their three game series with the Oakland Athletics clinging to a 1.5 game lead over the Atlanta Braves. As we head down the final stretch (11 games remaining) the Braves and Mets continue to fight for the pivotal bye and #2 seed in the National League.

Advantage Mets, right? It’s hard to envision this team not being heavy favorites in all three games vs. the lowest of low’s 55-95 Oakland A’s with their three best pitchers on the mound. The Braves open up a three game set with the Phillies in Philadelphia tonight. Jake Odorizzi and Aaron Nola.
Mets Injury Notes: An MRI in the injured quadriceps of Mets outfielder Brandon Nimmo came back clean on Thursday and he’s considered day-to-day. Nimmo was lifted from Wednesday’s game against the Brewers after injuring his left quadriceps, but fortunately it appears to be a minor issue.
Braves Injury Notes: Braves manager Brian Snitker admitted on Thursday that he’s unsure of Ronald Acuña Jr.’s availability for Friday’s game against the Phillies.
Mike Soroka was placed on the injured list at Triple-A Gwinnett on Thursday due to soreness in his pitching elbow.
