The New York Giants end their three-game homestand this Sunday afternoon as they welcome Justin Fields and the Chicago Bears.

Chicago comes in with a 2-1 record after a thrilling 23-20 victory over the Houston Texans. A crucial interception by Roquan Smith with 1:05 left led to a game-winning field goal with zeros across the board from Cairo Santos.

The Bears defense has been notoriously known for being a force on the defensive side of the field, but that entity is coming in short-handed, which leads into the injuries for this contest.

Smith continues to deal with a lingering quad injury, but he fully participated in practice on Friday, which gives him the green light to lead this unit.

Starting defensive end Robert Quinn is in jeopardy as he is dealing with an illness and is questionable for the game. Quinn was a pro-bowler last year when he recorded 18.5 sacks on the year, the second highest mark of his career.

Defensive end Dane Cruikshank (hamstring) is out, cornerback Jaylon Johnson (quad) is out, and linebacker Matthew Adams (hamstring) is doubtful with only one limited practice this week.

Their most notable absence? David Montgomery.

Last week, he suffered a knee and an ankle injury in the first quarter of the contest, with Khalil Herbert stepping in.

Before the injury, Montgomery rushed for 122 yards against the Green Bay Packers. He was the only bright spot on a rough offensive outing that saw the Packers win comfortably 27-10 in week two.

Head coach Matt Eberflus told the media that he was considered “day-to-day” after Wednesday’s DNP, but with zero practices this week, he will sit this one out.

Nevertheless, the show must go on, and they travel to the Meadowlands to face a Giants team that is attempting to go 3-1 for the first time since 2011, the year when they last won the Super Bowl.

They’ll have to do it without two key receivers in Kadarius Toney (hamstring) and Wan’Dale Robinson (knee).

That means Daniel Jones will have three key receivers on the sidelines, including Sterling Shepard (knee) after his season-ending ACL injury last week.

Jones ranks 28th in passing yards so far this year with 560. This game will be a true testament as to how Jones, head coach Brian Daboll, and offensive coordinator Mike Kafka can adjust.

Defensively, Don “Wink” Martindale will need to manage without defensive end Leonard Williams (knee) for the second straight week after he missed last weeks encounter against the Dallas Cowboys.

In the secondary, they’ll miss cornerbacks Cordale Flott (calf) and Nick McCloud (hamstring).

However, it does look like they will get back second-year starter Aaron Robinson after he had surgery to get his appendix removed. He suffered the injury in week one at Tennessee and has been out ever since.

We will see who can capitalize the most on Sunday.
