Everyone knows the name of the game: sell high, buy low. It’s the name of the game in fantasy football, and it’s the perfect time to sell this wide receiver:
Brandon Aiyuk
An impressive three week surge has propelled the 24-year old to fantasy’s WR22. Aiyuk has compiled 27 targets over that stretch, finishing all three games with 80+ yards. He’s arguably been the best past catcher for the 49ers. So why sell?
Aiyuk has hit his ceiling. With the addition of Christian McCaffrey, who led the team with 9 targets last week’s win against the Rams, it’s fair to assume Aiyuk might be the 4th option on his team’s passing-game.
Jimmy Garrapolo has been forced to throw more than he’s accustomed to with the 49ers being plagued by the injury bug. While he’s played well, Kyle Shanahan’s offensive philosophy is simple: run the football. See Christin McCaffrey for proof.
Now in a bye and getting healthy, expect the 49ers to go back to there usual ground-and-pound game plan. With Deebo Samuel and George Kittle healthy there are much too many mouths to feed on this offense, and Aiyuk is likely the odd man out.
Pair him with another starter and look to drastically upgrade at the WR/RB position.
