Andy Martino of SNY.tv reports that the Mets are meeting this week with free agent left-hander Carlos Rodón.

There were rumblings earlier this month that the Mets had interest in Rodón, and it sounds like the two sides will finally meet now. The 29-year-old finished last year with a stellar 2.88 ERA, 1.03 WHIP across 178 innings (31 starts) in San Francisco. Rodon is entering his 9th season in the big leagues. He has made consecutive all-star games.

It’s no secret that Steve Cohen and the Mets are willing to spend big in free agency this offseason, especially is Jacob deGrom were to depart. New York also lost Taijuan Walker and Chris Bassitt to free agency.

The Mets will make a splash. It’s just a matter of when. Stay Tuned.
