The Astros signed 1B José Abreu to a three-year, $58.5 million contract.

The agreement was first reported by USA Today’s Bob Nightengale and has now been officially announced by the Astros. Abreu will introduced Tuesday Morning at Minute Maid Park via press conference. The 35-year-old is set to make $19.5 million per season. Abreu’s power was down last season (15 HR) but he made up for it with an impressive .304 batting average.

The 2020 American League MVP figures to hit in the middle of the lineup for the defending champions. The rich get richer.
