NFL: New York Jets at Buffalo Bills
New York Jets rookie wide receiver Garrett Wilson has not only continued to strongly improve his case for Offensive Rookie of the Year but he has continued to smash rookie records. Wilson already passed Keshawn Johnson’s rookie record last week for the most receiving yards in a season by a Jets receiver (844 yards). A record that stood for 26 years prior to that Week 14 game against the Bills. This week he took it one step further as he surpassed Jets’ legend, Wayne Chrebet for most receptions in a rookie season. Chrebet’s record was 66 receptions back in the 1995 season. Wilson now has 67 receptions for 966 yards and four touchdowns.
Wilson made some really big plays for the Jets yesterday against Detroit as well. Wilson caught a 33 yard bomb from quarterback Zach Wilson early on in the second quarter in which the Jets then cashed in for six points on the ensuing play. Later on, in the third quarter it was the Wilson to Wilson connection again for another 33 yard gain. The Jets went on to score a touchdown on that drive as well. The most clutch play that Garret Wilson had came on the final drive of the game to move the sticks on 3rd and 19 with a 22 yard reception to keep the drive alive. Ultimately, the Jets fell short yesterday but Garrett Wilson brought his A-game finishing the day with 4 receptions for 98 yards.
