The Mets have discussed a potential trade with the White Sox for closer Liam Hendriks, according to Michael Mayer of Metsmerized.

Mayer adds a number of teams are in the mix.

The White Sox have been rumored to be shopping the 12-year-veteran and if there were any team with the flexibility to get a deal done, it’s the Mets. The 33-year-old is owed $14.3 million in 2023 and carries a $15 million option for 2024 that would become guaranteed if he does get traded.

Hendricks, one of the premier closers in the industry, complied 37 saves in 2022 alongside a 2.81 ERA in 57 2/3 innings.

He would give the Mets arguably the best setup/closer duo in the MLB.

Will Steve Cohen do it again? Stay tuned.
