Defensive tackle Quinnen Williams (calf) reportedly will play tonight against the Jaguars, according to Connor Hughes on SNY.
Williams was considered questionable with a calf injury but was listed as a full participant on Wednesday, suggesting the freshly named Pro-Bowl was close to a return. He ends up missing just one week after leaving the Jets Week 14 loss to the Vikings.
Gang Green now gets a much-needed boost as they look to cool down a Jaguars team that has won consecutive games vs. the Titans and Cowboys.
The 25-year old has excelled setting a career high in sacks (11.5) and is arguably the best player on a much improved defense.
On another note, Robert Saleh elevated QB Chris Streveler for tonight’s game from the practice squad, opening the door to a possible package of plays.
The Jets control their own destiny as three wins to close the season would give the team a 98% change to make the playoffs. While it seems far-fetched, Jets fans still have a glimmer of hope.
Tonight is step one.
