Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel said Tua Tagovailoa is in concussion protocol.

It’s just another chapter in the never-ending drama around Tua, the Dolphins, and head injuries.

To make matters worse, McDaniel’s said he’s not sure when and how Tagovailoa suffered the concussion. The first-year head coach added, “nobody recognized anything with regard to” a hit that would have led to his quarterback being concussed.

It’s the second time this season the 24-year-old has entered the protocol. Date back to Week 3, when the Dolphins made the decision to run Tua back in the game, after suffering a blow to the head vs. the Bills, only to see him exit on a Thursday night game against the Bengals in Week 4 which sidelined him for consecutive weeks. The handling of that injury prompted the NFLPA to call for an investigation.

The Dolphins now will have to hope that Tagovailoa will clear concussion protocol for the teams Week 17 matchup vs. the Patriots. If not, Teddy Bridgewater would draw the start, in which is arguably Miami’s biggest game of the season.
