As the world continues to come together and pray for Damar Hamlin, the relationship between Shannon Sharpe and Skip Bayless seems to be trending in the other direction.
Shannon Sharpe, who returned after missing (undisclosed) Tuesday’s Fox Sports 1 show, called out Skip Bayless over the tweet he posted when Bills safety Damar Hamlin went into Cardiac Arrest during Monday Night Football’s Bengals-Bills game.
“No doubt the NFL is considering postponing the rest of this game – but how?” Bayless tweeted “This late in the season, a game of this magnitude is crucial to the regular-season outcome … which suddenly seems so irrelevant.”
Sharpe opened Wednesday’s show explaining that the innocent “struck [him] a little different,” before suggesting that Bayless should delete his tweet from Monday. Bayless appeared caught off guard as he mentioned the plan was to not discuss his Twitter controversy.
“Skip tweeted something and although I disagree with the tweet, and hopefully Skip will take it down.”
Bayless immediately cut off his co-host.
“Timeout, I’m not going to take it down,” Bayless said. “I stand by what I tweeted.”
Sharpe proceeded to go off the rails, “I cannot even get through a monologue without you interrupting me … I didn’t want yesterday to get into a situation where Damar Hamlin was the issue. We should’ve been talking about him and not getting into your tweet. That was what I wasn’t going to do, but you can’t even let me finish my open monologue.”
Sharpe seemed visibly upset and the two immediately changed the topic and discussed LeBron James.
There is no secret that the relationship between Sharpe and Bayless is now at an all time low. The two hosts also had a heated back-and-forth a few weeks back in regards to Tom Brady.
Odds are they work their differences out, but this story is one to monitor moving forward.
