Browns Eyeing Brian Flores for Defensive Coordinator Vacancy

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports the Browns have requested permission to interview Steelers’ LB coach Brian Flores for their defensive coordinator vacancy.

Mike Tomlin essentially confirmed that news during his Monday press conference, though Tomlin did not disclose the team who requested to interview the 41-year-old.

Flores spent all of 2022 with the Steelers after being fired by the Dolphins at the end of the 2021 season after compiling a 24-25 record in three seasons.

The disgruntled head coach then filed a lawsuit against the league and several teams alleging racial discrimination in hiring practices.

Before coaching the Dolphins, Flores was with the Patriots from 2008 to 2018, coaching a number of defensive positions.

The Browns fired defensive coordinator Joe Woods on Monday. The club has also requested to interview Patriots linebackers coach Jerod Mayo.
