San Francisco 49ers Defensive Lineman Charles Omenihu was arrested Monday after a domestic violence indecent, according to the San Jose Police Department.
Omenihu was booked at the Santa Clara County jail and was released after he posted bail. He also received a restraining order.
Police arrived at the scene at 4:39 p.m. local time after Omenihu’s girlfriend called authorities telling them he pushed her to the ground during an argument. The woman complained of pain in her arm but proceeded to decline medical attention.
“We are aware of the matter involving Charles Omenihu and are in the process of gathering further information,” the 49ers said in a statement.
Head coach Kyle Shanahan explained he would be listed under “day to day.”
The Santa Clara police said an investigation will be reported to the Santa Clara District Attorney who will determine any possible charges.
Omenihu was a fifth-round pick out of the University of Texas (Houston Texans) and was traded to San Francisco in November of 2021.
The 25-year-old finished with 4.5 sacks this season as a rotational lineman for the Niners. He had two sacks and a forced fumble in the teams 41-23 wild-card victory over the Seattle Seahawks. He was held to just 15 snaps vs. the Cowboys after injuring his oblique.
The 49ers will try to move on from this incident as they prep for the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday.
