If there’s anything that victory breeds, it is pettiness.

Following the Kansas City Chiefs’ 23-20 AFC Championship victory over the Cincinnati Bengals Sunday, tight end Travis Kelce took to the mic to voice his displeasure with Cincinnati Mayor Aftab Pureval.

“Hey, I got some wise words for that Cincinnati mayor, know your role and shut your mouth,” Kelce said as the Chiefs celebrated their third Super Bowl appearance in the past five seasons. “You jabroni.”

The comments came after Mayor Pureval posted a video prior to the AFC Championship, calling out the AFC’s top-seeded Chiefs.

“Be it proclaimed, whereas the Cincinnati Bengals are headed to Burrowhead Stadium for their second consecutive AFC Championship,” Pureval said in a twitter video. “Whereas, Joseph Lee Burrow, who’s 3-0 against Mahomes. Has been asked by officials to take a paternity test confirming whether or not he’s his father…”

Didn’t work out well for Mayor Pureval who not only witnessed a three-point Chiefs win, but in the eyes of many, saw quarterback Joe Burrow outplayed by Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes by a decent margin.

The mayor later apologized for the comments after the game tweeting “yeah, I deserved that,” as he congratulated Kansas City on the win and wished them good luck in the Super Bowl.

Kelce finished with seven receptions, 78 yards and a touchdown. Mahomes tallied 326 yards and two touchdowns.

The Chiefs face the Eagles in Super Bowl 57 on Sunday, February 12 at 6:30.
