(New York, NY) – The New York Giants were knocked out of the playoffs by the eventual NFC Champion Philadelphia Eagles. Now, Giants’ captain and defensive leader Julian Love is making it clear he’s no fan of Philly’s head coach, Nick Sirianni.
Love courted some controversy when he said Sirianni is “in for a free ride right now,” saying the NFL is a player driven league, and adding Philadelphia has “dogs on the roster top to bottom.” The safety also maintains the team could effectively coach itself, given its talent level. The 24-year-old also says he doesn’t care for the Eagles head coach’s antics. That may have something to do with Sirianni’s demonstrative celebrations that have been captured on TV cameras.
“He’s a guy who really is doing a good job because he’s not getting in the way of his team,” Love said during an appearance Thursday on NFL Network. “He has an experienced roster from top to bottom — offense, defense.”
Suffice it to say the outspoken Philly fan base won’t take kindly to Love’s comments. Eagles defensive end Brandon Graham dismissed them by saying, “people always got something to say when they’re at home.”
The Eagles’ +63 point differential against the Giants is the biggest margin between two teams who have played 3 times in a season since 1928.
Sirianni, in his first season with the team led the Eagles to a 14-3 record this season — the most regular-season wins in team history — and their first NFC championship since the 2017 season.
