Dallas Cowboys star cornerback Trevon Diggs has reportedly found himself in hot water. The 24-year-old is being sued for up to $250,000 by a former landlord over a failure to pay rent and other issues, according to Dallas’ WFAA-TV.
Between unpaid rent and late fees, Diggs’ landlord claims the Cowboys budding star owes her $33,500 in back rent and fees, plus $11,000 to cover the final two months of the lease.
The property owner says Diggs caused damage that led to $3,400 worth of repairs, $531 in deep cleaning for carpets, and $2,500 in legal costs tied to the eviction process.
Diggs, who left the property in July of 2022 per WFAA, says he thought all of the issues were resolved.
His attorney Scott Becker responded to the allegation by saying, “He (Diggs) thought this matter was completely resolved. So, to have this situation arise out of the blue was a bit of a shock to him. My client didn’t cause that damage and we look forward to working it out with her… You become a target for things and that may be happening here.”
Luckily for the Cowboys cornerback, money is not the biggest worry in the world. The two-time Pro Bowler has garnered over $5 million through the first three seasons of his career. He’s scheduled to make $4.3 million next year.
