It looks like Philly may need a new go-to for Jalen Hurts.
Fox Sports NFL rules analyst Dean Blandino says he foresees the league stepping in to address the QB sneak the Eagles run: where a player or two lines up behind hurts to push him forward.
“I’d be shocked if they don’t make a change,” he said, per The 33rd Team’s Paul Domowitch.
“This is just a tactic that is not an aesthetically pleasing play, and I think the competition committee is going to take a look at it,” he continued, comparing it to “rugby scum.”
If those weren’t in the know about how successful this play is, they found out in Super Bowl LVII, where it got Hurts into the end zone to put the Eagles within two during the final quarter.
Blandino’s comments come as other teams around the league may look to mimic the tactic. The Athletic’s Kalyn Kahler says a staffer told her”People have caught wind of it and seen that it’s too successful not to implement on their own.”
