Former NFL defensive back Eric Johnson, who played six seasons in the league from 2000-2005, is among eight indicted of human traffic and other gang-related charges.

Attorney General Chris Carr says the members are facing charges ranging from human trafficking, racketeering, aggravated assault, kidnapping and gang-related offenses. That’s according to FOX 5 Atlanta.

Carr said that all eight members were confronted following a month-long investigation. The seven men and one woman “are alleged to have engaged in the trafficking of five female victims, including one minor.” They were indicted by a grand jury on Feb. 8.

“Throughout our state, gangs are actively engaged in human trafficking as a primary means to make money, and we are using all available resources to fight back and protect our most vulnerable,” Carr said via FOX 5 Atlanta.  “This indictment is just the latest outcome in our ongoing efforts to keep our children and our families safe as we seek to root out violent crime where it occurs.”

Johnson, is being charged with RICO, trafficking of persons for sexual servitude and violation of the Street Gang Terrorism and Prevention Act. If convicted, the 46-year-old will spend life in prison.

The Nebraska graduate played for the Raiders from 2000-03 before spending the 2004 season with the Falcons and finishing his career in 2005 with the Cardinals.

He’s most known for his 13-yard touchdown return of a blocked punt in the Raiders’ 48-21 loss to the Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII.
