(New York, NY) – Authorities are confirming that a shooting took place near a home connected to Bengals running back Joe Mixon last night.

The gunfire reportedly left a juvenile injured. It happened in Anderson Township, Ohio, which is about 13 miles southeast of downtown Cincinnati. Local news reports quote Mixon’s sister, Shalonda Mixon, who says her brother wasn’t involved in the shooting of the juvenile.

The Hamilton County Sheriff’s Department issued a press release saying they conducted a search in Mixon’s home and gather evidence. They also noted the juvenile suffered non-life-threatening injuries. The release noted Mixon’s address.

In response, Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins took to social media and blasted the fact such sensitive information was released.

Originally, a call came in concerning shots fired at 8:30 PM. Cops knocked on the front door at Mixon’s home and eventually let a car enter the driveway, around 12:15 AM. Deputies entered the home with note-taking materials around 2:00 AM, but left without making an arrest shortly before 3:30 AM.

Sheriff deputies were on the scene of this home on Ayers Road in Anderson Township Monday evening after a report of shots fired outside. A juvenile was taken to the hospital. The home is associated with Joe Mixon, Bengals running back. The home is held in a trust. The street was quiet Tuesday morning, March 7, 2023.

Mixon has been under scrutiny from law enforcement in the past. He faced an arrest warrant in late January for allegedly pointing a gun at a woman in Cincinnati but that case was later dropped. In 2017, he reached a civil settlement with a woman he had punched in the face, while a recruit at the University of Oklahoma. That incident led to his suspension for the entire 2014 college season. Mixon, who is 26 years old, is in the third year of a four-year $48 million contract with the Bengals.
