(New York, NY) — Los Angeles Clippers superstar Paul George will be out of the mix for the stretch run of the regular season.

After imaging on Wednesday, George has been diagnosed with a sprained right knee and will be re-evaluated in 2-3 weeks according to Adrian Wojnarowksi of ESPN. The NBA Insider adds a timetable for George’s return in the postseason will be clearer once he is reevaluated.

PG left Tuesday night’s contest vs. the Oklahoma City Thunder after getting fouled by Lue Dort with 4:38 remaining in the game. In obvious pain, George stayed down for several minutes before the training staff helped him limp to the locker room.

“I went up for the rebound, kind of hit his leg,” Dort said. “I didn’t do it on purpose, definitely an accident.”

The initial word out of LA was the team feared something far more severe, so a knee sprain diagnosis seems like igood news. This opens the door now for Terance Mann to slide into the starting lineup and means more minutes for Eric Gordon.

George, 32, is averaging 23.9 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 5.1 assists in 55 games this season. The Clippers are 38-35 and the five seed in the Western Conference.
