(New York, NY) — The New York Jets are adding another wide receiver in Free Agency.

Mecole Hardman, formerly of the Chiefs, has agreed to a one-year deal with the Jets, with a chance to make $6.5M, Jeremy Fowler of ESPN reports.

An injury limited the pass cacther to just eight games this past season before the playoffs and once he returned to action, it was glaringly obvious that he still wasn’t 100% healthy. The former second-round pick eventually aggravated the lingering groin injury during the AFC Championship Game and underwent surgery after the Super Bowl.

In 57 regular-season games in Kansas City, Hardman was targeted 220 times and hauled in 151 passes for 2,088 yards and 16 touchdowns. The 25-year-old joins Allen Lazard as the newest member to New York’s wide receiver room that also features Garrett Wilson, Corey Davis, and Elijah Moore.

Hardman’s addition to the roster all but guarantees Davis will be cut at some point this offseason. The Jets can save $10.5 million by cutting Davis and are on the hook for less than a million dollars in dead cap from his deal. Elijah Moore could also be a candidate to be traded.
