(New York, NY) — The more things change, the more things stay the same?
The Los Angeles Lakers are looking to fill their final roster spot, and they want a big for it. Enter Tristan Thompson, who won a ring alongside Laker forward LeBron James in Cleveland. He and Tony Bradley worked out for the Lakeshow, and Thompson is feeling pretty good about it.
Appearing on Draymond Green’s Podcast, Thompson said that after the workout, King James himself told him that he looked as good as he did in his prime Cavalier days.
Talk about an endorsement.
But there’s no need to believe just this claim. No less than Shams Charania reported that Thompson was in good physical shape during the workout. That gives Thompson’s claim a little bit of weight.
Despite this potential endorsement from LeBron, Lakers head coach Darvin Ham said there are “no imminent plans” to sign either Thompson or Bradley for their final handful of games. He added the franchise was “doing their due diligence” with regards to making an addition.
In his best season with the LeBron Cavs, Thompson appeared in 78 games, started in them all, and logged averages of 8.1 points, 9.2 rebounds, and 1.1 blocks per game. He’s been a free agent since last season.
