(New York, NY) – New York Yankees fans are pleased with the early production from newly promoted outfielder Jake Bauers, after he went deep with a solo shot against the Cleveland Guardians, in a 4-3 win at Yankee Stadium on Thursday.

He spoke to WABC’s Dixon Dimitrovski, and to our surprise, we found out that the outfielder is a Carolina Panthers fan.

Ironically enough, Bauers is a native of Newport Beach, California. Why the Panthers? Beats me. Maybe if he sticks around with Bombers, he’ll realize that’s a mistake. The journeymen also expressed his love for his dog and video games.

Bauers, 27, first made his major league debut with the Tampa Bay Rays in 2018. He was then subsequently traded for rising start Yandy Diaz. Since then he’s spent time with Cleveland, Seattle, and now the Yankees.

A left handed hitter and thrower, Bauer plays mostly left field as well as some first base. He split his time last year between the Cincinnati Reds AAA club in Louisville, and the Yanks’ affiliate in Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
