NFL: New England Patriots at Buffalo Bills
(New York, NY) — Offensive tackle help is on the way for the Jets.
Yodny Cajuste is signing with the team after a visit last week. The specific parameters of the deal have not been disclosed.
Cajuste was a third-round pick of the Patriots in 2019 but did not play an NFL game until 2021. He has 17 appearances with five starts over the last two seasons.
The Jets released veteran Cedric Ogbuehi earlier this month but essentially replace him with the Florida native.
The 27-year-old seems to be on track to being backup tackle, with Duane Brown and Mekhi Becton slated to have starting spots, despite both coming off surgeries.
Cajuste joins a group that includes fourth-round pick Carter Warren and veteran Billy Turner.
The Jets are coming off a 2022 season where they ranked 17th in the NFL in pass protection, according to Football Outsiders.
Gang Green has made it a priority to improve their offensive line depth this offseason, and that trend continued on Tuesday.
