(New York, NY) — The Vegas Golden Knights beat the Dallas Stars with a 6-0 win in Game 6 of the Western Conference playoffs, to advance to the Stanley Cup final for the second time in six years.

The Stars were eliminated after trailing the series 3-0 and rallying for two wins. It was the most lopsided playoff loss for Dallas since 1993.

“The first trip was just kind of overwhelming. You’ve never been there before. Maybe you took it for granted a little bit back then,” Vegas center William Karlsson said.

“There’s a group here that’s been through this,” coach Bruce Cassidy said Sunday before the Golden Knights left for Dallas. “They’ve been to this stage, and if we want to get to the next stage, we’ve got to get over the hump.”

The Knights now are set to take on the Florida Panthers in the Stanley Cup Final — with Game 1 taking place in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Vegas led the Western Conference in the regular season with 51 wins and 111 points, while the Panthers 92 points in the regular season were the fewest among the 16 teams that began these playoffs.

The NHL is guaranteed to have a franchise win its first ever Stanley Cup this postseason.
