(New York, NY) — It’s the end of an interesting era for the New York Knicks.

General manager Scott Perry, who has been with the organization since 2017, will leave the organization when his contract expires this summer, according to reports.

Perry was hired under former team president Steve Mills, and he kept his post when Mills was replaced by former agent Leon Rose in 2020. Perry signed a multiyear extension in 2021.

Perry’s tenure marked a transitional period for the team. Following Phil Jackson’s departure in June 2017, the Mills-Perry combo traded away All-Star forwards Carmelo Anthony, later that year, and Kristaps Porzingis, in 2019. The team has restructured itself around a core of new signings and draft picks, including the trio of Julius Randle, RJ Barrett, and Jalen Brunson. That core has had some success, making the Eastern Conference Semis in 2023.

Perry will step down with the Knicks most certainly in a better position than when he joined.

One potential replacement GM is former Timberwolves president Gersson Rosas, who was added to Rose’s front office as a consultant last year.
