(Englewood, CO) — The Broncos could have their starting running back in time for training camp.

Javonte Williams said on Sunday that he feels “ready to go” and hopes to be medically cleared for Denver’s training camp. Williams (ACL) said “the plan” is for him to be cleared for training camp.

Although it is good news, “the plan” and “I feel like” aren’t exactly definitive statements.

“It’s just all about the evaluation, how the Broncos feel about it,’’ Williams explained. “Just seeing how I feel, moving, just trying to get my speed back to normal, things like that.”

Even if Williams is close to 100 percent, it’s difficult to envision the Broncos not taking it slow with their running back. If he lands on the PUP list, Williams can be activated at any time up until final cuts. If he isn’t activated at final cuts, he would have to miss the first four games of the season.

“For the first two months, you’re just kind of sitting in bed trying to get it to bend all over again. That’s the hardest part. [But] that’s who I got to be, that’s who I’ve been my whole life. I don’t want to get back on the field playing scared or timid, so when I do get back out there, I want to be 100%.”

Williams was limited to just four games last season.
