This is what GM Billy Eppler says:

“I do want to be clear that it’s not a rebuild. It’s not a fire sale. It’s not a liquidation. This is just a repurposing of Steve’s investment in the club.”

Not a rebuild?…not a fire sale?……Of course it is…what else could it be?

Eppler goes on to say….”That doesn’t mean we’re punting 2024. We’re going to have a competitive team. Like I said, we just don’t want to endure long stretches of being bad. That’s not going to be satisfying to anybody.”

That’s for sure –with two solid months of baseball ahead— it’s not looking like fun at Citi field.

Meantime–where does this leave Buck Showalter with the trading deadline Tuesday?

Buck says…. “I know Billy Eppler is planning on sitting down with the coaches and discussing where we are and what our goals are. I know Billy’s been making the rounds with some of the players, talking to them and answering questions, much like I’m trying to do” –
