(New York) — The Yankees fell to the first place Baltimore Orioles in the rubber match 9-3 on Sunday night.

It was a forgettable night for most players, but in particular for starter Luis Severino, who lasted just 3 1/3 innings before being pulled.

Severino was rocked for seven runs in the first inning. The right would end up pitching 3 1/3 innings, allowing 10 hits, and 9 runs (all earned).

“Right now, I feel like the worst pitcher in the game,” Severino said, per Newsday. “No doubt about it. … Nothing that I do is working.”

The 29-year-old righty hurler is sporting a 2-5 record with a tumultuous 7.49 ERA through 11 starts.  It was Severino’s fourth game since June 1 that he’s surrendered seven earned runs or more.

The bats struggled to pick up the slack of the poor pitching as the Bombers struck out a season high 18 times. The Yankees were held to three-or-fewer runs for the 48th time in 105 games.

Manager Aaron Boone? Not concerned.

“Outside of the strikeouts, I thought at-bats were building off of last night. I thought we grinded out really well. We made it really tough on Kremer. We couldn’t finish it off”.

Keep dreaming.

Despite their struggles the Yankees have plenty to play for. At 55-50, they’re only 3.5 games behind in the wild-card race.

The’ll look to bounce back against the Tampa Bay Rays tonight in the Bronx at 7:05 PM.
