(Cincinnati) — He’s back? Almost.

Bengals head coach Zac Taylor smoke to reporter on Monday and gave an encouraging report on quarterback Joe Burrow.

“He looks great. Physically just walking around, he looks probably as good as he’s ever looked at this point,” Taylor said.

Taylor added that the original recovery plan remains and the team expects Burrow to ready for the Bengals’ Week 1 game vs. the Cleveland Browns on September 10th.

“Everything I’ve heard about the calf is [there’s] no reason to believe that Joe Burrow’s not going to be back prior to the regular season,” said NFL insider Tom Pelissero.

Once Burrow gets the green light to make a full return to the field, Taylor doesn’t think it will take him long to be ready for game action. Taylor said it will take “one rep” for Burrow to be ready to go.

The superstar QB has been sidelined with a calf injury since late July.
