NEW YORK — Tim Boyle is going from being the Jets’ starting quarterback, to the bench, to off the team entirely.

According to Reports, the Jets plan to release Boyle and sign Brett Rypien to the practice squad.

Boyle was predictably awful throwing four picks and one touchdown in two games as the Jets starter after the team benched Zach Wilson.

This comes after more drama on Monday when the team has reportedly asked Wilson to step back into to the starting job — a request not fully embraced by the youngster.  Jets head coach Robert Saleh pushed back on this notion, but it’s still unclear exactly what’s going on.

According to The Athletic, Wilson’s hesitance to become the starter again has to do with fear of getting hurt while playing behind the Jets’ porous offensive line.

New York Jets quarterback Zach Wilson (2) is shown after his team fell, 27-6 against the Los Angeles Chargers.

It’s unclear whether Rypien or Wilson or Trevor Siemian (or Ken O’Brien) will start for the Jets on Sunday against the Texans.

As for Brett Rypien, the Jets announced they have added the veteran to the practice squad on Tuesday. The 27-year-old filled in for an injured Matthew Stafford for one contest, but struggled and was let go as a result.
