(New York, NY) – The Juan Soto to the Yankees rumors continue to heat up.
As the All-Star outfielder is just one year away from free agency, while the San Diego Padres deal with financial problems, the rumor mill has linked Soto to New York. And it appears the Bombers have the inside track, according to multiple reports. The latest note comes from Randy Miller, a longtime Yankees beat reporter for the Newark Star-Ledger.
On X, formerly Twitter, Miller said he’d just heart from “A friend of a friend (who) just talked to Juan Soto’s dad. Juan Soto Sr., says ‘trade is happening’ between Yankees and Padres.”
That will be music to many Yankees fans ears, as the team looks to retool its outfield after trading away Harrison Bader. Plus, Soto is one of the league’s most accomplished offensive stars, and would immediately become a middle of the order presence for the Yankees. He would seemingly spend most of his time in RF, leaving Judge to man CF, and the newly-acquired Alex Verdugo in LF.
So, at least according to Juan Soto’s father – it’s just a matter of time until he’s in pinstripes.
