DALLAS — Dak Prescott is backing his head coach.

After the Cowboys embarrassing 48-32 loss to the Packers in the Wild Card playoffs, the Dallas quarterback told reporters that if McCarthy is on the hot seat, he should be too.

“He’s been amazing,” Prescott said. “I don’t know how there can be [questions about his job], but I understand the business. In that case, it should be about me as well, honestly. That guy, I’ve had the season I’ve had because of him. This team has had the success they’ve had because of him. I understand it’s about winning the Super Bowl, and that’s the standard of the league and damn sure should be the standard of this place. I get it, but add me to the list in that case.”

Maybe Prescott is right — It’s time for the Cowboys to move on from both parties.

Despite leading the NFL with 36 touchdowns, and cementing himself in the 2023 MVP conversation, Prescott fell flat on his face on the biggest stage, yet again.

“I really haven’t thought about this at all. So, I won’t comment on it since I haven’t thought about it,” Jones told reporters, according to Pro Football Talk. “My complete thought for the last several weeks have totally been around anticipating and planning on advancing from this game to another game here at the stadium since we found out we were going to have this home field. So I’m going to back to the complete bottom of my thought process to think about anything other than next week’s game here.”

McCarthy, 58, has one more year left on his contract. Despite an impressive 42-25 regular season record (four seasons) — he has amassed just one playoff victory.

“I think the biggest thing is we’re disappointed,” McCarthy said. “I got a whole team in the locker room that’s hurting. I haven’t thought past the outcome of this game.”

Jones said he does not have a meeting planned with McCarthy.

“What I had planned to do was be with him [Monday] going over how we played [Sunday] and getting ready for the coming week.”

What we do know is the Cowboys are 28 seasons removed from their last Super Bowl appearance and a change seems imminent.
