NEW YORK — A troubled ex-Yankee is nearing his return to Major League Baseball.

Domingo Germán expects to be back in the big leagues next season, a source told the New York Post.

The former Yankee is in talks with six teams, including the Mets and AL East rivals the Blue Jays and Orioles. Despite several others expressing interest, and two-teams offering a contract, there is no deal imminent.

Germán’s season came to an on Aug. 3 after he got into confrontations with members of the Yankees, flipped over a couch and smashed a television in a alcohol related conflict. He was reinstated in early November, shortly before he was non-tendered.

According to the source, he’s completed the required steps of an inpatient treatment program and is still voluntarily checking in with professionals to get back on the right path.

“He’s doing well, working hard,” the source said. “He has moved away from a lot of the distractions he had before. He’s in a good place.”

The expectation is Germán will receive a major league deal.

The 31-year-old provided valuable depth for the Yankees for six seasons pitching to a 4.41 ERA across 112 games and 522.1 innings.

He does come with baggage, however. German was also suspended 81 games from 2019-2020 for violating MLB’s domestic violence policy.
