NEW YORK — Giants quarterback Daniel Jones has one goal this offseason. Getting healthy and back on the field for Week 1.

When Jones felt pain in his knee during a week 10 matchup with the Raiders last season, he immediately knew he suffered a serious injury. And he did. An ACL tear.

But apparently, he’s ahead of schedule in his return.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (8) leaves the game with an injury against the Miami Dolphins during the second half of an NFL game at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, October 8, 2023.

The Giants quarterback said his “rehab is going well” and that he’s already started running on an anti-gravity treadmill. Jones is three months into his rehab as he eyes a return for training camp in late July. That would be eight months post-surgery. A typical ACL tear usually comes with approximately a nine-month recovery.

Jones presumably will want to be patient, but may not have that luxury. The Giants will add a quarterback this offseason, and likely will select one early in the draft. The 26-year-old is heading into the second year of his four-year, $160 million contract signed last offseason and another down year would likely mean the Giants move on from him after 2024. If so, it would come at the cost of a $22.210 million dead cap hit.

New York Giants quarterback Daniel Jones (8) walks off the field after failing to convert on downs in the first half against the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium on Monday, Oct. 2, 2023, in East Rutherford.

He’ll be just fine though. The former first-round draft pick will earn more than $47 million next season, an unfathomable amount for a player who has totaled just 38 touchdown passes in his last 47 games.

But hey — he won a playoff game — all is well Giants fans.
