ARIZONA — The Arizona Coyotes have placed forward Adam Ružička on unconditional waivers for the purpose of terminating his contract, the team announced Friday.

The move comes just hours after a social media video surfaced that appeared to show the 24-year-old in a room with a white powdery substance. The video was posted on Ružička’s Instagram story, and showed him with a white powder substance that appeared to be cocaine.

“The Arizona Coyotes have placed forward Adam Ruzicka on unconditional waivers for purposes of terminating his contract,” the team said in a statement. “The Club will have no further comment at this time.”

Ružička has appeared in three games for the Coyotes this season, after being claimed off waivers from the Calgary Flames last month. He didn’t record a single point.

The Slovakian is the second player in the league that has had his contract terminated this season. Forward Corey Perry had his contract terminated by the Chicago Blackhawks after they stated he violated workplace policies. Perry has since signed with the Edmonton Oilers.
