(New York, NY) – You hear that? Washington fans might like it. Kirk Cousins could be coming back to the district. At least, that’s the rumor according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

At the completion of the 2017 season, Cousins left the then-Redskins to sign a three-year, $84 million contract to join the Minnesota Vikings – the first fully guaranteed deal in NFL history. Two extensions later, Cousins is yet again scheduled to become a free agent. And Schefter, appearing on the Pat McAfee show, says the veteran signal caller could head back to the franchise that drafted him in 2012.

Schefter reports the Washington Commanders are “open to anything” ahead of the NFL Draft – in which they own the number 2 overall pick. Apparently, the club could look to trade back and amass additional picks. Of course, the Vikings are expected to try and re-sign Cousins. The Atlanta Falcons under new head coach Raheem Morris are also rumored to be interested in talking with him.

It’s expected that there isn’t any remaining bad blood or hurt feelings after Cousin’s previous departure from Washington. Then-team owner Daniel Snyder has since sold the club, and the front office that was in place at that point has totally turned over. Most league observers say while Sam Howell flashed at times over the past two seasons, the Commanders are definitely looking to upgrade at the starting QB slot.
