New England’s luxury days of having Tom Brady quarterbacking the Patriots are well behind them, leaving the once-stable position in a funk. With

Bill Belichick is no longer running the show, newly minted headman Jerrod Mayo is searching for his quarterback to kick off the new era.

Holding the third overall pick in the draft, New England’s possibilities are near everlasting with how they want to draft. Many mock drafts have the Patriots taking the sensational Marvin Harrison Jr. from Ohio State, while others have them filling out their quarterback need with North Carolina’s Drake Maye or LSU’s Jayden Daniels–the 2023 Heisman trophy winner.

Rumors surfaced that Daniels’ camp was against the idea of him playing football in New England, but those were quickly shut down when Daniels himself rescinded with a “cap” emoji on Twitter.

Before his retirement, Belichick was keen on bringing in Daniels as his new quarterback before his retirement.

The logic makes sense when you look at Daniels’ last season at LSU: he tossed 3,812 passing yards for 40 touchdowns while running for 1,134 yards and 10 ground scores–Daniels was also extremely efficient by completing 72% of all his passes with only four interceptions.

Daniels’ dual-threat potential not only had Belichick salivating about the idea, but it would leapfrog the Patriots into a modern NFL trend of having a dual-threat under center.

April 25th is the day that all NFL fans have circled on their calendars to which all the speculation will end–for the time being, there seems to be mutual interest between New England and making Daniels their new franchise quarterback.
