The 29-year-old stepped away from the the Jets last August, 19 days before the start of the 2023 season. Before his abrupt retirement, Davis was one of the Jets’ key contributors at wide receiver.

Although the team is expected to release him, the front office still holds Davis in high regard. New York has expressed interest in bringing him back , according to SNY’s Connor Hughes.

“The Jets would welcome [Davis] back with open arms,” Hughes wrote on March 7. “The organization, top on down, loves him. So does Aaron Rodgers. It’s just a matter of if Davis wants to play.”

“Corey Davis was a true professional on and off the field,” said GM Joe Douglas following Davis’ summer announcement. “He was a great example to our young players of how to come to work every day and put in a complete and consistent day of work.”

Davis put up a 32-536-2 stat line, when he suited up for 13 games with the Jets back in 2022. He should be able to contribute as a depth receiver as long as it doesn’t take too long to catch back up to speed.

And it’s the perfect fit. The Jets would welcome him with warm arms, considering their WR core right now.
