BRONX — Yankee Stadium was rocking even before their much anticipated home opener on Friday afternoon. But unlike the earthquake, the Yankees were unable to make any noise against the Toronto Blue Jays.
After the Yankees lost 3-0, All-Star slugger Aaron Judge was asked if he felt the earthquake prior to the game.
“Yeah, I felt that pregame,” Judge told reporters. “Usually, you feel a couple of rumbles in the stadium pregame, but that one was a little different.”
Judge was then asked where he was when the earthquake rattled New York. He refused to answer that question.
“I don’t want to say,” Judge replied before laughing.
Baseball fans are convinced that Judge was using the bathroom when the earthquake happened on Friday morning.
Speaking of things going down the toilet, the Yankees looked abysmal on offense this Friday in their home opener. The Yankees couldn’t hitting hit a beachball. And there bullpen dropped the ball after starting pitcher Marcus Stroman hurled six scoreless innings.
“We really didn’t give them too much to cheer about. We gotta come back tomorrow and get things going against another good pitcher,” Judge added. “Every home opener, I try to pinch myself going out there. It’s tough to sleep the night before, took me a while to get to bed last night. It’s an honor.”
The Yankees will try to bounce back this Saturday when they face the Blue Jays for the second game of their three-game series. First pitch is set for 7:05 p.m. ET.
