New York Jets QB Aaron Rodgers during the 2023 season opener.

(Florham Park, NJ) – The most important participant at Jets practice on Tuesday of this week wore a red jersey. Aaron Rodgers – the great hope for Gang Green – was back on the field after suffering an Achilles tendon injury just moments into the 2023-2024 season.

New York is holding its OTA practices this week, and Rodgers was seen hitting Xavier Gipson with a 40-year pass that went for a TD late in the practice session.

“He’s doing everything,” explained head coach Robert Saleh. “He has no restrictions. The arm talent is still there. It’s really just reacclimating to everything and we’re trying a bunch of new stuff, too.”

Of course it’s the time of year when helmets, knee pads, and elbow pads are the only protective gear being worn. Shoulder pads are still in storage, and Rodgers has more time before dealing with any threat of contact. But reporters made a point of noting that Rodgers’ mobility looked good and he didn’t seem encumbered by the injury.
