(East Rutherford, NJ) – The Giants hosted their first joint practice of the offseason on Monday – and it didn’t take long for sparks to fly.
After a catch from Lions’ receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown, the two teams broke out into a benches-clearing skirmish. Video footage from fans in the stands shows Kalif Raymond being tossed to the ground by a number of Giants, and fellow Lions’ receiver Isaiah Williams going at it with Giants’ corner David Long Jr..
While most players surrounding the situation were trying to diffuse the madness, there were a number of punches thrown between individuals amidst the chaos.
This doesn’t come as a great surprise, for the first time in months professionals from opposing teams are lining up against one another in full pads and the energy is expected to be high.
Fans were all for the brawl, and became especially loud afterwards when newly acquired Brian Burns walked along the sideline, waving his hand in a “crazy” motion.
Expect some more intense plays and extra trash talk as the practices continue, the two teams will meet Thursday night at 7:00 p.m. for their first preseason play.
