(New York, NY) — After a quiet start to the off-season, the Dallas Cowboys are making a splash.

The Cowboys acquired CB Stephon Gilmore from the Colts for a fifth-round pick, according NFL Network Insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported on Tuesday.

The fifth-round pick is Dallas’ compensatory pick in the round, so it’s 176th overall. It’s a pretty small price to pay for Gilmore, though he turns 33 in September and is now on his fourth team in five seasons.

The 2019 defensive player of the year, signed a two-year deal with the Colts in 2022. He is set to make $7.96 million this season and the Colts will clear over $9 million in cap space as part of the deal. Gilmore may not be the shutdown corner he was in his younger days, but he started every game last season and finished the year with 66 tackles, two interceptions, and 11 passes defensed.

The Cowboys will start him across Trveon Diggs in which projects to be one of the stronger cornerback rooms in the NFL.
