(New York, NY) — Reinforcements are on the way for the Brewers -and it’s a former Staten Island FerryHawk stand out.

Milwaukee is signing free agent righty pitcher Julio Teheran, according to the New York Post’s Jon Heyman.

The deal is worth one year.

Teheran opted out of his minor league contract with the Padres earlier this week. He put up a 5.62 ERA with a 45/16 K/BB in eight starts (40 innings) with Triple-A El-Paso.

Last time the 32-year-old was in the MLB was 2021 when he had a lone start for the Tigers.

Now, he has an opportunity to outdo that total greatly with Milwaukee’s rotation being decimated by injuries.

Teheran holds a 78-77 career record. In 240 total appearances with the Braves, Angels, and Tigers, Teheran has a career 3.80 ERA.

With Atlanta, he was an all-star in 2014 and 2016.

In 2021, Teheran pitched for the FerryHawks where he compiled a 1.60 ERA in the Atlantic League through 35 innings. His contract was then purchased by Toros de Tijuana of The Mexican League.
